The Geography Curriculum is underpinned by the school values, curriculum drivers and the National Curriculum. These three elements are woven throughout the curriculum, placing an emphasis not only on academic success but also on each child’s personal development. A high-quality geography curriculum allows pupils the opportunity to develop a coherent understanding of our world and its people.  It inspires pupils with a curiosity and fascination to learn about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.

At Fixby, our Geography curriculum aims to inspire in our pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. 

The Geography curriculum provide opportunities for pupils to use geographic enquiry skills; collecting, analysing and communicating data, interpreting sources of geographical information, engaging in fieldwork and communicating geographically, in order to develop a deep understanding of the world and its people. The knowledge, understanding and skills developed in the geography curriculum supports pupils to explain how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped, interconnected and change over time.
