At Fixby, we encourage our pupils to take risks through our Art curriculum. We believe that all pupils can achieve in Art and Design through high-quality Art lessons that inspire children to think innovatively and develop creativity. Our Art and Design curriculum provides planned opportunities for our children to express themselves through the disciplines of drawing, painting, print-making, sculpture and collage. We inspire our children by ensuring our curriculum is inclusive and we study inspirational artists who derive from a range of cultures, backgrounds and life experiences.

As children progress through the school, the art curriculum builds upon prior knowledge and skills, allowing them to apply these to interesting and exciting projects.  In Art, children are reflective and evaluate their work, thinking about how they can make changes and develop their mastery of Art and Design techniques. Because of this, our pupils build their resilience and communication skills that we believe are vital to become successful and happy adults.
